"I was so excited to take my visiting sister to Al Badia Picnic Brunch, my favourite brunch of all, we have visited at least 12 times over the past 5 years. We dined on Fri 25th March and although the children’s corner was very much improved. The food was SUCH a disappointing let down, so many changes and nothing for the better! It left me feeling that the brunch was extremely overpriced. Something my sister could not stop commenting on! I really wish I had taken her elsewhere! The picnic basket we were given upon entry had hardly any of the delicious salads and nibbles we were used to. No prawn salad, no delicious olives, very cheap and stale bread, plain lettuce leaves in a glass jar that simply sweated and wilted instantly in the heat, a bland quinoa salad far less exciting treats than on previous years. Also no wonderful juices in the basket such as elderflower as had delighted us in the past. The jug of homemade lemonade we were given was far too sweet clearly made with artificial flavours and basically was unpleasant to drink. The cocktails jugs were very weak. The live cooking stations were also a huge let down. I have my little routine and like to start with a board of cold cuts and a selection of cheeses, but this year NO cheese at the whole brunch!!!!! There was a distinct lack of vegetables too, in the pass we have feasted on amazing asparagus this year all I could find was one set of roasted veg, unless you count the soggy cob in the kid’s corner. The meat that previously had melted in the mouth was replaced by very chewy lamb and tasteless beef. What I had loved about the deserts were the accompanying chocolates – now gone & the fresh strawberries - now replaced by cheaper melon & pineapple. The tea usually served in a proper teapot came in a take away cup. I will no longer be recommending Al Badia picnic brunch, & I have raved to many over the years, as the cost simply cannot be justified against the less than average food. So disappointed!
